Description
Wat Phrathat Doi Kham is built on a mountain top about 10 kilometers from the city. Wat Phrathat Doi Kham is surrounded by forests and predates its more famous sister temple Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. Doi Kham means "Golden Mountain" and has been a place of worship for over 1300 years.

Legend has it that among the Lua People living around Doi Kham were 2 Giants, Pu Sae and Ya Sae who were cannibals. The Buddha came to Doi Kham and persuaded them to reform their ways. Before leaving The Buddha gave a hair relic to Pu Sae and Ya Sae and instructed them to pay homage every day.

In 1966, after heavy rain, the old Pagoda at Wat Doi Kham collapsed and the villagers found many Buddha images scattered around. This find led to a revitalization of the temple and provided funds for the restoration of the pagoda.

Wat Phrathat Doi Kham is situated in Tambon Mae Hia.
